How to match flooring with your pet’s coat colour
Use your pet’s coat as a colour story, not a strict matching rule. First identify whether the coat feels warm or cool and light, medium or dark. Then compare that direction with the room’s daylight, walls and furniture. A physical sample is the final check.
The Ohanory colour families
Golden and honey coats
Golden retrievers, honey-coloured cats and warm tan coats can inspire natural oak and golden oak. These tones suggest warmth, loyalty, happiness and companionship. They often connect comfortably with cream textiles, warm whites and natural materials.
Cream and snow-white coats
Samoyeds, ragdoll cats and other pale coats can inspire ivory oak and soft cream floors. The colour story is purity, peace, gentle connection and new beginnings. Keep enough contrast between floor, walls and furniture so the room retains depth.
Silver and grey coats
Russian blue cats, Weimaraners and cool grey coats can inspire silver grey and greige. This direction conveys calm, balance, confidence and modern restraint. Natural light can shift grey toward blue or beige, so review the sample at different times of day.
Black, brown and deep coats
Dobermans, black Maine coons and rich brown coats can inspire dark walnut and espresso. The story is protection, trust, depth and quiet strength. Darker floors can create drama, but room size, daylight and dust contrast should be considered.
Caramel and russet coats
Abyssinian cats and caramel-toned pets can inspire chestnut, wheat and forest oak directions. These colours connect to nature, curiosity, energy and shared exploration.
A four-step matching method
- Find the undertone. Does the coat read golden, red, neutral, silver or blue-grey?
- Choose contrast or harmony. Harmony keeps the floor close to the coat family; contrast deliberately moves lighter, darker or cooler.
- Include the whole room. Compare the palette with walls, large furniture, curtains and daylight.
- Verify physically. Screens are approximate. Place a sample on the floor and view it from standing height in several lighting conditions.
Photo-led custom colour
If a ready-made finish does not capture the colour direction, Ohanory offers a photo-led custom flooring consultation. Uploading a pet photo helps communicate palette inspiration; it does not create an automatic or guaranteed exact colour match. Custom flooring is made to order, and the selected colour, construction, production requirements and delivery estimate must be confirmed before purchase. The current published shipping policy notes that custom flooring may require up to 50 days.

Colour should not replace specification
The emotional story matters, but the floor still needs to work for the room. Review the product’s price unit and verified specifications. Current Ohanory products are sold per square foot with four plank-length options. Width, thickness and construction vary by series and are confirmed before production.
Frequently asked questions
Will a matching floor make pet hair invisible?
No. A related colour may reduce visual contrast, but hair, dust and grit still require routine cleaning.
Can Ohanory reproduce the exact colour in a pet photo?
A photo is a palette reference. Camera processing, light and screens alter colour, so the custom process requires review and confirmation. Do not rely on the uploaded image as a guaranteed exact finish.
Can I choose a floor that contrasts with my pet?
Yes. Contrast can make the pet and floor visually distinct. The Ohanory matcher provides a starting recommendation while leaving every collection available.
What should I do before buying?
Compare the product page, use the calculator, read shipping and returns, and order a physical sample whenever colour is important.
